WPL 2024 Winner: The second season of the Women's Premier League (WPL 2024) ended with Smriti Mandhana-captained Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) 8-wicket win against Delhi Capitals (DC). RCB, bowling first, reduced Delhi Capitals to 64 runs without any loss and bundled them out for just 113 runs in 18.3 overs. After this, history was won by achieving the target of 114 runs with 3 balls and 8 wickets remaining. RCB's men's or women's team was successful in winning a tournament for the first time in its 17-year history. The 17-year wait for the title ended on Sunday at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in New Delhi. 21-year-old Shreyanka Patil, playing for RCB, was the highest wicket-taker in the Women's Premier League 2024 and won the Purple Cap. Shreyanka took maximum 13 wickets in 8 innings of 8 matches with an average of 12.07 and economy of 7.30. In the final, Shreyanka took 4 wickets for 12 runs in 3.3 overs and was the highest wicket taker.
Indian women's team all-rounder Deepti Sharma, playing for UP Warriors, was selected as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Deepti Sharma rocked with both ball and bat and scored 295 runs in 8 matches in the tournament at an average of 98.33 and strike rate of 136.57. 88 not out was his best performance. While bowling in 8 innings of 8 matches, Deepti took a total of 10 wickets with an average of 21.7 and economy of 7.23. Deepti's best performance was 4 wickets for 19 runs. Deepti also took a hat-trick in the season. He was chosen Most Valuable Player for his excellent all-round performance.
