Kane Williamson (104 runs) has equaled Indian batsman Virat Kohli in terms of Test centuries. Williamson scored the 29th century of his career in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh on Wednesday. This is his fourth century this year. He has become the batsman to score the most Test centuries in the year 2023. Kane has scored his third consecutive Test century. Virat also has only 29 centuries in his name in Tests.

Thanks to Kane's century in Sylhet, New Zealand has scored 266 runs for 8 wickets by the end of the day's play. Kyle Jameson is unbeaten on 7 runs and Tim Southee is unbeaten on 1 run. In the first session of the second day, Bangladesh team was all out for 310 runs.

Test going on in New Zealand vs Bangladesh

Apart from Kane Williamson, Glenn Phillips scored 42 runs and Daryl Mitchell scored 41 runs for New Zealand. The remaining batsmen failed to play big innings. The team lost the wicket of Tom Latham on the score of 36 runs. Latham was out after scoring 21 runs. After that Devon Conway (12 runs) was out on the team score of 44 runs.

After the openers were out for 50 runs, Kane Williamson took the lead and made a 54-run partnership with Henry Nicholls. But this partnership did not last long and Nicholas returned to the pavilion after scoring 19 runs.

Williamson led the innings with Daryl Mitchell, but Mitchell was out after scoring 41 runs. Kane added 66 runs with him. He made a partnership of 78 runs with Glenn Phillips. By the time Kane was out, the New Zealand team had reached 262 runs.

Spinner Taijul Islam took 4 wickets for Bangladesh. He dismissed Tom Latham, Daryl Mitchell, Kane Williamson and Ish Sodhi. Apart from Taijul, Shoriful Islam, Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Naeem Hasan and Mominul Haq got one wicket each.

Bangladesh scored 310 runs on the first day

On the first day on Tuesday, Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat and at stumps had scored 310 runs at the loss of 9 wickets. Mahmudul Hasan scored a half-century and New Zealand all-rounder Glenn Phillips had 4 successes.
