West Indies squad announced for T20I series against South Africa: A series of three T20 International matches will be played between West Indies and South Africa from 24 August. The Caribbean team has announced a 15-member squad for this series. The host team has decided to rest two key all-rounders Andre Russell and Jason Holder.
West Indies said that it has made a total of three changes from the recent T20 World Cup squad. Apart from Russell and Holder, Kyle Mayers has not got a place in the team. Instead, spin all-rounder Fabian Allen, fast bowler Matthew Ford and talented batsman Alec Athanje have been included.
Cricket West Indies' Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe has confirmed that Russell and Holder have been rested for the recovery period. He said, "Andre Russell and Jason Holder requested for rest and recovery. Holder played five consecutive Tests against England and South Africa. During this time, both the players will work closely with the science and medical team of Cricket West Indies.

Meanwhile, West Indies head coach Darren Sammy said that his team is looking forward to the series against South Africa. He said, "It is a great opportunity for our team to face the strong South Africa. We played against them recently and had mixed results. This will be an important and exciting series. I am confident that the team we have selected will perform strongly to achieve success."
West Indies won four of the last five bilateral T20 International series. However, in the T20 World Cup 2024, it was eliminated in the Super-8 round. At the same time, it won five of the last six T20 International matches against South Africa. This included two consecutive bilateral series.
