India vs Japan T20 Match: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) made a historic announcement on September 4. Before commencing their campaign at the Asian Games, the Indian men's cricket team will play a T20 match against Japan. This will mark the first time in the history of men's cricket that the teams from India and Japan face each other on the cricket field.

India's first match at the Asian Games is scheduled for September 28. Six days prior to that, on September 22, 2026, the Indian team will play this T20 match against Japan. According to the BCCI's official X (Twitter) handle, the match will be held at the 'Sano International Cricket Ground' in Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. The match is set to begin at 9:30 AM Indian Standard Time.

This historic match is being organized to celebrate the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Japan. The contest is part of a special initiative called "Sport 75," which was decided upon during a summit-level meeting between Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
