When Sehwag was seven years old, he met Aarti. When he proposed Aarti, he was only 21 years old. They dated for five years, after which they got married.

During the 1980s, Sehwag's cousin got married to a girl who was Aarti Ahlawat's aunt. But at that time he was only seven years old and Aarti was five years old.

It was in this marriage ceremony that they met for the first time in their childhood. From that point on, they started playing together and became good friends. As they grew up, this friendship grew stronger and turned into something more, at least for Sehwag. He never mentioned it to Aarti, but she started developing feelings for him.
When he turned 21, the cricketer perhaps decided that enough was enough. After knowing Aarti for full 14 years, he decided to go a step further by proposing her. Sehwag is a simple person, so he kept his proposal simple as well. And Aarti said yes!
Three years after that, they decided to make it official by getting married. However, both their parents did not know about them being together. So, they had to break the news first. Initially, the parents were not okay with them getting married. However, with time, they realised that the two would not give up and decided to give them their blessings. And so it was that the date was set for April 22, 2004.
Shri Arun Jaitley's house in New Delhi where the marriage took place. It was a safe and beautiful destination for couples to tie the knot. Not a single media person was allowed inside. Guests had to present their invitation to gain entry. It was a completely personal matter, but it was enough for both of them.
After that both of them lived a happy, blissful life and continue to do so. In 2007, they welcomed their first child and named him Aryaveer. Coincidentally, Aryaveer was born just two days before Sehwag's birthday. Later, in 2010, they had another son and named him Vedant. Now, their family is complete and they are all as happy as can be
