Chennai Super Kings (CSK) currently sit in fifth place in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 standings and remain firmly in the race for a spot in the playoffs. Ruturaj Gaikwad and his team have three matches remaining in the tournament; should they win all of these fixtures, they will successfully qualify for the playoffs. Having won six of their 11 matches and lost five, Chennai occupies the 5th position on the points table with 12 points. They are set to face the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their next match on May 15, followed by fixtures against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans.

Ahead of their final three matches, the 'Men in Yellow' have taken a significant step by bringing a new player into the squad to replace the injured Ramkrishna Ghosh. Ghosh had played in just one match—against the Mumbai Indians—during which he sustained an injury that subsequently ruled him out of IPL 2026. The franchise has now inducted Mcneil Hadley Noronha into their squad, prompting many fans to wonder: Who exactly is this player?

Macneil impressed everyone with his performance in the 2024-25 CK Nayudu Trophy; he scored 1,037 runs across 14 innings at an average of 79.77. He smashed three centuries and two half-centuries, two of which were triple centuries.

In the 2025 Maharaja T20 Trophy, he scored 253 runs for the Mangaluru Dragons in 13 matches at a strike rate of 148.82. He also hit 19 sixes this season and claimed 10 wickets at an economy rate of 7.44. Notably, Noronha has never played in the IPL and could potentially make his debut in the 2026 season.
