West Indies squad announced for ODI series against New Zealand: The West Indies Cricket Board has announced its 15-member squad for the first three matches of the upcoming five-match ODI series (New Zealand tour of West Indies, 2026) against New Zealand. Wicketkeeper-batsman Shai Hope will lead the team during this series. Through this home series, the West Indies team aims to strengthen its preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup.
The West Indies recently suffered a defeat in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. Consequently, Captain Shai Hope and his squad will look to make a fresh start against New Zealand on home soil. The series will be played entirely in Guyana and Barbados. For now, the selectors have chosen the squad for the first three matches, while the team for the final two ODIs will be announced later.

The biggest headline from this squad selection is the inclusion of 19-year-old spinner Vitel Lawes. The left-arm wrist-spinner has earned a spot in the senior national team for the first time.
Lodge grabbed headlines with his mysterious bowling during the Under-19 World Cup held earlier this year (2026). Not only did he claim 10 wickets in the tournament, but he also bowled the most dot balls. He could make his international debut against New Zealand.

Meanwhile, all-rounder Shamar Springer will not be part of the series due to the passing of his mother. All-rounder Keemo Paul has been included in the squad in the absence of these two players.
