In the next season, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will once again aim to win their first Indian Premier League (IPL) championship. Before that, on December 19, in Dubai, they must assemble a formidable team for the IPL 2024 auction. Before the auction, they held onto 17 players and swapped in two others: Cameron Green from the Mumbai Indians (MI) and Mayank Dagar from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

Eleven players were let go: Wanindu Hasaranga, Avinash Singh, Siddharth Kaul, Finn Allen, Michael Bracewell, David Willey, Wayne Parnell, Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood, Sonu Yadav, and Kedar Jadhav. Following the release and retention of players, RCB's remaining bid for the IPL 2024 auction is Rs 23.25 crore. Three of the six places that they can occupy are overseas. In light of this, let's examine five players that RCB may try to acquire in the IPL 2024 auction.

Travis Head

For Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 2023 Indian Premier League, Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli performed admirably. Even though they were well-set, there were other games in which the pair was unable to speed significantly. As a result, despite having wickets in hand, RCB scored below average many times. On paper, Du Plessis and Kohli are a formidable combination, and they have an outstanding track record. However, Bangalore would be wise to bring in a batsman such as Travis Head to start with Du Plessis and force Kohli to bat at number three.

Head bats in the opening spot because he is a much more aggressive player. In T20 Internationals, Australia's World Cup hero had a strike rate of 146.17. He has all the tools in the book to launch the squad into the lead. Additionally, the left-handed hitter is playing at the top of his game. Thus, he may be a fantastic addition to the RCB lineup for the 2024 IPL. Considering Du Plessis' advanced age, Bangalore also requires a top-level attacker. He is currently 39 years old.

Mitchell Starc

Another foreign bowler that RCB may like to pursue at the IPL 2024 auction is Mitchell Starc. Josh Hazlewood, who appeared in just three games the season prior, was let go by the Bangalore team. Bangalore could have hit on the right-arm pacer, a proven performer in a variety of forms. It appears that the franchise has chosen to seek elsewhere, though. In the IPL 2024, left-arm pacer Starc, an Australian colleague, may be a good substitute for the RCB.

Although the seasoned left-arm bowler hasn't participated in the Indian T20 league since 2015, he has registered for the forthcoming IPL auction in the highest price range of Rs 2 crore. Starc is one of the best fast bowlers of the modern era, so not much has to be said about him. He just contributed significantly to Australia's victory in the ODI World Cup, and because of his propensity to perform well under pressure, he will be sought after in the IPL 2024 auction. Among the teams vying for his attention will be RCB.

Rachin Ravindra

Surprisingly, now that Wanindu Hasaranga has been discharged, RCB will need to cover the hole in the spin bowling all-rounder department. They have Green as an all-rounder who bowls at a fast tempo, but in terms of abilities and experience, he is not quite as excellent as Hasaranga. Bangalore would have liked to have Hasaranga and Green on the team, but their auction budget would have been thrown away. Because of this, even if RCB is aware of Hasaranga's value, it is doubtful that they would try to bid on him during the auction.

Excellent all-rounders like the adaptable Hasaranga of Sri Lanka are irreplaceable. RCB can search within the present group for a player similar to Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand, who bowls a little left-arm spin and had an outstanding 2023 ODI World Cup. With three hundreds to his name, 24-year-old Ravindra hammered 578 runs at an average of 64.22 and a strike rate of 106.45 in ten innings. He has taken 41 wickets in 53 T20 appearances as a respectable left-arm spinner. Ravindra has the potential to be a valuable utility player for the Bangalore team.

Chetan Sakariya

After a mediocre IPL 2023 season, Harshal Patel was released by RCB. Following two fantastic seasons prior, the right arm did not quite live up to expectations in the previous season. During the 2023 Indian Premier League, he did take 14 wickets in 13 matches, but his average was 32.43 with an extremely high economy rate of 9.66. Given that he has lost his spot on the Indian squad, Harshal may well be passed his peak.

One possibility for his successor in the RCB team is left-arm pacer Chetan Sakariya. After seeing little use in the previous two seasons, the gifted fast bowler was released by the Delhi Capitals. Sakariya made an impression for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2021, with 14 wickets in 14 games. However, he only appeared in five games during the previous two seasons for the Delhi team. Sakariya's slower ball and yorker are both rather good. The cricketer who had recently tied the knot also had sufficient expertise in the format. He could be an important RCB operator.

Shivam Mavi

RCB revealed their retention list and also discharged some of its bowlers. As a result, they want to use the IPL 2024 auction to bolster their bowling department resources. They could take into consideration Shivam Mavi, a young fast bowler from India. Gujarat Titans (GT) released the 25-year-old without his participation in an IPL 2023 match. He took five wickets at an average of 45.40 in six games during the 2022 season. Even with his recent bad performance, Mavi is still regarded as one of India's best pacers. He has the speed; according to his record, he has averaged 26.50
