Six jerseys worn by FIFA Football World Cup 2022-winning team captain Lionel Messi in the tournament will be auctioned. The jersey worn by Messi in the final is expected to fetch Rs 83 crore.
Earlier, Maradona's jersey was sold for Rs 74.14 crore in the 2022 auction. This was the most expensive bikini jersey of any football player. Lionel Messi's jersey will be auctioned by Sotheby's in New York. The jersey and football worn by Diego Maradona when he scored the Hand of God goal were also auctioned by Sothebys.

Sotheby said on Monday it would put six of the seven jerseys worn by Argentina captain Lionel in Qatar up for sale in New York. These also include the jersey which he wore during the historic victory in the final against France. Messi played all 7 matches in the tournament. The jersey worn in his three league matches is not included in the auction, as he swapped jerseys with Australia member Cameron Devlin.
According to Sotheby's, an exhibition of the jersey has been organized at Sotheby's headquarters in New York between November 30 and December 14 before the auction. There is no fee for the exhibition.Messi is the only footballer to score a goal in all the matches played in a single season of the World Cup. He also scored goals against France in the final.
The jersey worn by Diego Maradona in the Hand of God goal fetched around Rs 75 crore in the auction in 2022. Actually, on June 22, the quarter-final match of the 1986 World Cup was being played between England and Argentina. Maradona jumped and tried to put the ball in the goal post. He wanted to hit the ball with his head, but the ball hit his hand instead of his head and went into the net, bypassing goalkeeper Peter Shilton.
Referee Nasser could not see this hand ball and declared it a goal. In this way Argentina got 1-0 lead in the match. Argentina won the match 2–1 and advanced to the semi-finals. The football with which he scored the goal was also auctioned for Rs 20 crores.
