BCCI has announced the sending of men and women teams to the Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China in September 2023. part from the players not participating in the World Cup, the BCCI will select the team to play in the Asian Games. This will be the first time that the Indian cricket team will participate in the Asian Games.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday confirmed that men's and women's cricket teams will participate in the 2023 Asian Games to be held in Hangzhou, China. According to media reports, Shikhar Dhawan can captain the Indian men's cricket team in the Asian Games 2023, while NCA chief VVS Laxman can get the responsibility of coaching. BCCI had agreed to send both women's and men's teams to this event. In the men's team event, a second-rate team will go to China, while a full-strength team will be sent to the women's team, if players like Rituraj Gaikwad and Yashasvi Jaiswal are not selected in the World Cup team, then they too can get a chance for the Asian Games.
Shikhar Dhawan's bat always runs in big tournaments. Shikhar scored 363 runs at an average of 90.75 in the Champions Trophy-2013, 192 runs at an average of 48 in the Asia Cup-2014, 412 runs at an average of 51.50 in the World Cup-2015, 338 runs at an average of 67.60 in the Champions Trophy-2017 and Scored 342 runs in the Asia Cup at an average of 68.40.

The Asian Games were postponed due to Corona. The 19th Asian Games were to be held from September 10 to 25 last year but were canceled after the rise of Corona in China. These games are being held in China for the third time. Beijing, the capital of China, hosted the Asian Games in the year 1990, while the Asian Games were played in Guangzhou in the year 2010.
Cricket event will be organized for the third time in the Asian Games. Cricket events were also held in the 2010 and 2014 games where the BCCI did not send either the men's or the women's team. In the 2010 Games, Bangladesh and Pakistan won gold in the men's and women's categories respectively. And in 2014, Sri Lanka won gold in the men's category and Pakistan in the women's category.
