The ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 is the 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup, organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC). The tournament will be hosted by India, which will begin on October 5 and end on November 19, 2023. 10 teams will participate in the tournament, eight of which have already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. The remaining two places went to the finalists of the ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifier held in Zimbabwe.
The tournament will retain the round-robin format from last time with all teams playing against each other for a total of 45 league matches. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, which will be played in Mumbai on November 15 and Kolkata on November 16. The final will be held on November 19 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The Narendra Modi Stadium will also host the opening match of the tournament between England and New Zealand on October 5. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has signed a sponsorship deal with digital payment company MasterCard. Under the deal, MasterCard will be the global partner for the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023. The World Cup will be played in India from October 5 to November 19, 2023. This premier event will fascinate cricket lovers across the world
With this deal, MasterCard has joined the list of companies that are other global partners of ICC. These companies include MRF Tyres, Booking.Com, Aramco, and Emirates.
ICC has three categories of sponsorship, which include Global Partners, Official Partners, and Category Partners. Sponsors enjoy a range of benefits such as media integration, in-stadium branding, tickets, and hospitality.
According to Raja Rajamannar, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer of MasterCard, the company will spend a huge amount to be properly visible during the World Cup. Mastercard has also been the title sponsor for all bilateral matches played in India until March. It was paying Rs 3.8 crore per match as the title sponsor of the Indian Cricket Board.
