There are 10 teams playing in the 2023 ICC Cricket World Cup, the same as in 2019. The format will be the same as the 1992 and 2019 cricket world cups, where every team plays with the remaining teams in a round-robin (randomly selected team) fashion. Finally, four teams will compete in a semi-final, with the top two teams advancing to the final.
The ICC also wanted to make the World Cup more inclusive and give more teams a chance to compete. By reducing the number of teams, the ICC was able to include more associate teams in the qualification process.
Ten top teams of the world will participate in the ICC World Cup, with India hosting the tournament. The first match will be played between the champions and defending champions of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 England and New Zealand on October 5 in Ahmedabad.
