Nissanka hit 20 fours and eight sixes in his 139-ball innings. His strike rate was 151.08.
Pathum Nissanka became the batsman to play the greatest innings on Sri Lankan soil. He left Kumar Sangakkara behind in this matter. Sangakkara scored 169 runs against South Africa in 2013. Ibrahim Zadran of Afghanistan is at number three. He scored 162 runs against Sri Lanka in 2022. At the same time, in 2023, Rahmanullah Gurbaz of the Afghan team had scored 151 runs against Pakistan. In 2009, India's Gautam Gambhir played an inning of 150 runs against Sri Lanka.
Nissanka scored more than 150 runs in his 50th ODI innings. He is the first batsman in the world to do so. Earlier, the record of scoring the most runs in the 50th innings of ODI was jointly held by Ireland's Andy Balbirnie and former Australia captain Ricky Ponting. Balbirnie had scored unbeaten 145 runs against Afghanistan in 2019. At the same time, Ponting had scored 145 runs against Zimbabwe in 1998.
