Gautam Gambhir, the current mentor of Kolkata Knight Riders and a key batsman in winning the T20 World Cup 2007, has scored 524 runs in 21 T20 World Cup matches during 2007-2012 at a strike rate of 118.01 and an average of 26.20. He has four half-centuries to his name and scored a title-winning 75 against arch-rivals Pakistan in the inaugural edition of the T20 World Cup.

In his 33 ICC T20 World Cup matches, MS Dhoni has scored 529 runs. During 2007-2016, with 21 catches and 11 stumpings, he holds the record for the most dismissals (32) by a wicket-keeper in T20 World Cup history. The World Cup-winning captain also holds the record for winning the most T20 World Cup matches as captain. Captain Cool led the Indian team in six T20 World Cups, where India won an impressive 22 out of 33 matches.

Veteran Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has 593 runs in 31 T20 World Cup matches and is third on the list. From 2007 to 2016, he has an average of 23.72 along with a strike rate of 128.91. His notable achievement is his contribution to India's 2007 World T20 victory, where he hit six sixes in an over of England's strike bowler Stuart Broad.

Team India captain Rohit Sharma is the second-highest run-scorer for India in T20 World Cup history. He is fourth on the all-time list with 963 runs in 39 matches during 2007-2022, a strike rate of 127.88 and an average of 34.39. Rohit Sharma has hit 35 sixes in 39 T20 World Cup matches, the most by an Indian player. He has scored nine T20 World Cup half-centuries. The most runs scored by Rohit Sharma in an innings was against Australia in Bridgetown in 2010, Rohit scored an unbeaten 79 off just 46 balls.

Most Runs for India in T20 World Cup History: The former Indian captain tops the list of highest run-scorers in T20 World Cup history. He has scored 1141 runs in 27 matches during 2012-2022 with a strike rate of 131.30 and an average of 81.50. Known as the batting maestro, Kohli has been India's highest run-scorer in three editions of the T20 World Cup - 2014, 2016 and 2022. He has 14 half-centuries to his name. His highest T20 World Cup score is 89* which came against West Indies in the second semi-final in 2016.
