India Paralympics Medals 2024: India has created a new history in the Paris Paralympics. By winning 5 medals on the sixth day in Paris, India has created a new record of winning the most medals in the Paralympics. Earlier, India had the record of winning the most medals in the Tokyo Paralympics.
In the Paris Paralympics, Indian para-athletes have done a feat within 6 days that had never happened before. In fact, India has created a new history of winning the most medals in a Paralympic Games by touching the figure of 20 medals in Paris. India now has a total of 20 medals in its account. These include 3 gold medals, 7 silver medals and 10 bronze medals. Before Paris, India had set a record of winning the most medals in the Paralympic Games in Tokyo 2020. India had won a total of 19 medals in the Tokyo Paralympics. But now within the first 6 days in Paris, Indian para-athletes have broken the record of their best performance in the history of the Paralympic Games.
India has so far won medals in 4 sports in the Paris Paralympics. Of these, a maximum of 10 medals have come from athletics. At the same time, 5 medals have come in badminton and 4 in shooting. One medal has come from archery. India won 5 medals on the sixth day i.e. 3 September. Deepti Jeevanji, Sharad Kumar, Mariyappan Thangavelu, Ajit Singh, and Sundar Gurjar won these medals.
India has been participating in Paralympic Games since 1968. India's account was not even opened in the first Paralympic Games. After this, India got its first medal in the form of gold in 1972. India did not participate in the next 2 Paralympics, but in 1984 Indian para-athletes managed to win 4 medals. After this, once again India could not even open its account in the next 4 Paralympics. Then India managed to win 2 medals in the 2004 Athens Paralympics. After this, we did not get any medals in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics and had to be satisfied with just 1 medal in the 2012 London Paralympics. India won 4 medals in the 2016 Rio Paralympics but its best performance was yet to come. Then came the Tokyo Paralympics in which India created a new record by winning 19 medals and now in Paris, India has created a new record by surpassing its best performance record of Tokyo.
