Paris Olympics : Olympic badminton player proposes on live TV after winning gold
Chinese badminton player Huang Ya Qiong won the gold medal at the Paris Olympics on Friday. However, her happiness did not end here. As soon as she won the gold, her fellow player proposed to her. Huang could not refuse the marriage proposal. This is the first case of love confession at the Paris Olympics. Its cute video is also going viral.
Huang continued her unbeaten streak with Zheng Si Wei to win the gold medal in the mixed doubles event by defeating South Korea's Kim Won Ho and Jeong Na Yun 21-8 21-11. Wearing the gold medal around her neck, Huang went to meet another Chinese badminton teammate Li Yuchen. Li first gave her a bouquet and then got down on one knee to propose to Huang. Seeing this, Huang became emotional. However, she accepted the marriage proposal.

Huang Ya Qiong said she was not expecting an engagement ring in Paris and was completely focused on preparing for the Games. Huang said after the match, 'This proposal was a surprise for me because I was preparing for the Games. I am an Olympic champion and I got a marriage proposal, which I did not expect.
I can't express the emotions I am going through right now because I am very, very happy. I am emotional because I said yes. Winning a gold medal is an honour in our journey. I was surprised by the proposal. I never expected it. I didn't think about how we would celebrate.
Yuchen and his doubles partner Ou Juan Yi competed in the men's doubles event. Tokyo Olympics silver medallists Yuchen and Juan failed to make it out of the group stage after a tough draw. Huang and Zheng Si Wei won badminton's first gold medal at the Paris Games. They dominated from start to finish against Kim Won Ho and Jeong Na Eun on Friday. It took them just 41 minutes to beat the Korean pair 21-8, 21-11.
