Following the commercial success of Tumbaad (2018) and Kantara (2022), Indian folklore is becoming a more popular source of inspiration for filmmakers. Another move in that direction is Munjya, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and written by Yogesh Chandekar and Niren Bhatt.
Munjya Movie Review
The newest horror-comedy from the creators of Bhediya (2022) and Stree (2018) is purportedly inspired by a folktale from the Konkan area of Maharashtra about a kid who turns into a demon shortly after his thread ceremony. His soul, constrained to the forest where he passed away, looks for solace in getting married, an unfulfilled dream. To carry out his evil schemes, he has Bittu (Abhay Verma), who is easily scared. The shy and superstitious young man Bittu returns to his ancestral village for a family event.
In his final year of college, Bela (Sharvari Wagh), has friendzoned him and is seeing someone else. He is in a one-sided relationship with her. He gets assistance from his psychic cousin Elvis Karim Prabhakar (Sathyaraj) and cousin Diljit (Taran Singh) in driving out the monster. Suhas Joshi, his vivacious grandma, also lends him assistance and counsel in his struggle with the ghostly being.
Using the spooky ambience of the town and the dark humour of Bittu's situation, the film combines aspects of comedy and horror to create a distinctive and engaging story. Bittu's interactions with Munjya form the main plot points, his humorous attempts to win Bela over, and his mishaps while attempting to drive out the spirit. By combining humour, horror, and legend, the movie seeks to enthral viewers and offer a novel perspective on the horror-comedy subgenre.

Munjya's Stree and Bhediya Connection
I know this is a bit of a vague beginning for a horror movie, but by the time you finish reading this review, you'll understand. The movie Munjya, which tells the story of a mysterious power that haunts a boy's life despite his ignorance of it, is a part of Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy world. The movie is set somewhere around Stree and has a clear connection to Bhediya. That way you know it comes from skilled hands.
Actor Varun Dhawan used social media to announce his cameo by posting a screenshot of the movie's post-credit sequence. 'Munjya,' which is presently playing in cinemas, has Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma as the key characters.
A snippet from 'Munjya's' post-credits scene was posted by Varun Dhawan on his Instagram account. Varun's 'Bhediya' character, Bhaskar, can be seen hiding behind a rock and covering himself in leaves in the video. Janardhan, played by Abhishek Banerjee, assists in getting him some clothing.
