Major Action Against Cockroach Janata Party: Account Suspended in India
Cockroach Janata Party: The X account of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has been suspended. This party was launched in protest against a statement made by the Chief Justice of India. For the past few days, the party has been a subject of intense discussion across the internet. CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke stated that initial attempts were made to hack the account; when those attempts failed, the account was subsequently suspended.
The party had over 160,000 followers on X, while its follower count on Instagram has now exceeded 13 million. Upon attempting to access the party's account on X, a message appears stating that the account has been 'withheld' in response to a legal demand.
How Did This Campaign Begin?
Operating under the name CJP, this online campaign was launched on May 16. The initiative was sparked by an incident in which Justice Surya Kant—a judge of the Supreme Court of India—used the term "cockroaches" to describe the attitude of certain unemployed youths in the country. In protest against this remark, Deepke wrote: "What if all the cockroaches gathered together?" Subsequently, an online campaign titled "Cockroach Janata Party" took off on social media, and people began joining it almost overnight. In terms of Instagram followers, the CJP has even surpassed the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)—the party currently in power at the Centre. According to reports, more than 600,000 people have already joined this movement. The list of the party's social media followers includes many prominent politicians and celebrities.
Who is Abhijeet Deepke?
The founder of the Cockroach Janata Party is 30-year-old Abhijeet Deepke. He completed his undergraduate studies in journalism in Pune, Maharashtra. Subsequently, he moved to the United States for further studies, where he earned a postgraduate degree in Public Relations from the renowned Boston University. By profession, Deepke is a political communication strategist who designs digital strategies for political parties.
CJP's Key Demands:
The Cockroach Janata Party's website is now live, and the party has also released its manifesto. The manifesto outlines several key demands, including a ban on appointing Supreme Court judges to the Rajya Sabha after their retirement; the implementation of a 50 percent reservation for women in the legislature without increasing the total number of seats in the House; and a 20-year ban on contesting elections for MPs and MLAs who switch political parties.
