The rape and brutal murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata has shaken the entire country. Former Team India captain and former President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Sourav Ganguly is also concerned about this incident. He has decided to take out a march on the streets of Kolkata to protest against this incident. Ganguly will take out a march on Wednesday with his wife Dona Ganguly. Earlier, he strongly condemned this incident and said that he is also a father of a daughter and he is also scared to hear this.
On Monday, Ganguly removed his DP from his social media handles Instagram and X and made it black. After this tragic incident in Kolkata, people are expressing their protest by blackening their DP on social media, including Ganguly.
The Supreme Court took cognizance of this incident and heard it on Tuesday. The Supreme Court has constituted a 10-member national task force for the safety of doctors. Apart from this, it has handed over the responsibility of security of Kolkata's RG Hospital to the CRPF. The security task force constituted by the court will suggest necessary measures for the safety, working conditions and health of medical professionals.
Sourav Ganguly has said that the culprits should be given the harshest punishment on this issue. Earlier, while talking to the media, he had said, 'This is a very unfortunate incident. Strictest action should be taken on this. This incident is terrible... really very scary... anything is possible everywhere. Therefore, security arrangements, CCTV cameras should be prepared accordingly. Strictest action should be taken so that such incidents do not happen again.'
