IPL 2025: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has started preparations for the auction to be held before the new season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2025). Apart from the impact player rule, it wanted to consult all the 10 teams of the league on some other things and so on Wednesday it held a special meeting with all the 10 teams at its headquarters in Mumbai. But here all the teams had divided opinions on many issues. Before the 18th season of this league, the board wants to form an opinion with all the teams on many issues.
In a release issued here after the meeting, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah said, "The Board of Control for Cricket in India on Wednesday held constructive talks with the owners of 10 franchises on various topics related to the upcoming season of IPL." Shah said, "The franchise owners presented feedback on player rules and other business aspects including central merchandising, licensing and gaming.
The BCCI will now place these recommendations before the IPL Governing Committee during further deliberations before formulating the IPL player rules." The team owners or co-owners who attended the meeting included Shahrukh Khan of Kolkata Knight Riders, Kavya Maran of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ness Wadia of Punjab Kings, Sanjeev Goenka of Lucknow Super Giants along with his son Shashwat. Along with this, Parth Jindal of Delhi Capitals was also present.
Manoj Badale and Ranjit Barthakur from Rajasthan Royals, Prathamesh Mishra from Royal Challengers Bangalore, Kashi Viswanathan and Rupa Gurunath from Chennai Super Kings, Amit Soni from Gujarat Titans while Mumbai Indians owners joined in online. There was a heated debate between Wadia and Shah Rukh on the issue of whether the mega auction should take place or not.
Parth Jindal, director of JSW Sports, which owns Delhi Capitals, said that 'no real outcome came out' from the meeting as the teams stuck to their opinions on all the matters discussed.
Jindal said, 'No real outcome came out. It was just to listen to the different views of all the owners and the BCCI has listened to us and now they will tell us all the rules. Hopefully by the end of August we will know the rules for the next season.'
