
Botev is a Bulgarian professional football club based in Vratsa that competes in the 'First League,' the top division of Bulgarian football.
The club was founded in 1921. Since 1948, Botev has played its home matches at the 'Hristo Botev Stadium.' This stadium is located within the 'Hristo Botev Sports Complex' in the eastern part of Vratsa. Initially, the stadium had a capacity of 25,000 seats. Following recent renovations in 2008, 2009, 2015, and 2022, the stadium now features nine new seating sectors with a total capacity of 8,935 seats.
Botev's longest consecutive stint in the top league spanned 26 seasons, from 1964 to 1990. The club's best-ever performance in the league occurred during the 1970–71 season, when it finished in third place.
