Thrissur Titans, KCL 2026: In the title clash of the Kerala Cricket League 2026, the Thrissur Titans defeated the Calicut Globestars by 3 wickets to clinch their maiden historic title.
Following their victory in the final played at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram the Titans players made a heartwarming gesture that won over all the fans.
Immediately after becoming champions, the entire team headed straight to a hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, where they celebrated their victory by placing the trophy in the lap of their injured teammate, Shaun Roger.
A horrific accident occurred on the field
During the final match, while attempting to take a catch, Sean Roger collided with his own teammate, Mohammad Inan. The impact was so severe that Inan's knee struck Roger directly in the chest.
As a result, Sean Roger lost consciousness on the field for about a minute. The medical team immediately rushed to the scene to attend to him and transported him to the hospital.
Following their title victory, the team made a significant decision and headed straight to the hospital. When they arrived at his bedside with the trophy, Roger had his left arm in a sling.
Overcome with emotion, his teammates placed the trophy in his lap. Sean Roger himself shared a video of this special moment on his social media account; it has been widely appreciated by fans, drawing praise from everyone.
Shaun Roger's Pivotal Role in the Tournament
Shaun Roger was a key pillar in the Thrissur Titans' title-winning campaign. He scored 269 runs across 12 matches at an average of 26.90 and a strike rate of 120.63, including a magnificent half-century.
In the league stage, Thrissur finished third with five wins and 11 points from 10 matches. They subsequently secured their spot in the final by defeating the Trivandrum Royals by one wicket in the semi-final.
The Titans, who had suffered a crushing 10-wicket defeat in the previous season's semi-final, not only clinched the title this time but also set an example by demonstrating team spirit towards a fellow player.
