China Masters 2026: India's star men's doubles pair, Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, have once again brought glory to the nation on the international stage. In a thrilling title clash at the China Masters, the Indian duo staged a magnificent comeback after losing the first game to defeat the home favorites, He Jiting and Ren Xiangyu, 11-21, 21-13, 21-17 in a hard-fought match lasting one hour and ten minutes.

With this historic title victory, Satwik and Chirag not only clinched the China Masters trophy but also secured a substantial prize purse of $92,500 (approximately ₹87 lakh).

Title Glory Achieved on the Third Attempt

This marked the third time Satwik and Chirag had reached the final at the China Masters. They had previously made it to the final in 2023 and 2025 but had to settle for the runner-up spot on both occasions.

This time, despite suffering a lopsided 11-21 defeat in the opening game against the former world number 4 Chinese pair, the Indian duo displayed remarkable resilience and skill under pressure.

After leveling the match by winning the second game 21-13, they sealed the victory in the third and deciding game—winning 21-17—thanks to Satwik's powerful smashes and Chirag's superb net play.

With this historic title win, Satwik and Chirag have maintained their unbeaten record against the Chinese pair, extending their head-to-head lead to 3-0.

Second Major Title of the Current Season

This marks the second major title of the current season for Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty. Previously, they had clinched the Singapore Open Super 750 title. The Indian duo also reached the final of the Thailand Open Super 500 tournament, although they faced defeat there.

The season has been fraught with challenges due to Satwik's shoulder injury and fitness concerns. Despite this, their impressive performance demonstrates the pair's remarkable ability to handle pressure in major tournaments. This victory, coming just ahead of the 2026 Asian Games, will serve as a massive morale booster for Indian badminton.
