Sonal Dinusha scored a century in the second innings of the Colombo Test against India as well; this was crucial because the host team would have lost the match had he been dismissed early. He had also scored a century in the first innings of the Test, although Sri Lanka could not avoid the follow-on despite his magnificent knock of 103 runs. This marks Sonal's third century of the series, and with this achievement, he set three major records.

In the first innings of the opening Test played at Galle, Sonal Dinusha scored 100 runs, hitting four fours and two sixes; this marked the first Test century of his career. However, he missed out on a century in the second innings of the Galle Test—scoring a hard-fought 84—and his team ultimately lost the match. Subsequently, in the first innings of the second Test played in Colombo, Sonal scored 103 runs. He went on to score a century in the second innings as well.

Centuries in Both Innings of a Test Against India

Sonal Dinusha has become the third Sri Lankan batsman to score centuries in both innings of a Test match against India. Before him, Dilip Mendis achieved this feat during the 1982 Chennai Test, scoring centuries (105 and 105) in both innings. Aravinda de Silva repeated the feat in 1997 at the SSC Ground in Colombo, scoring 146 in the first innings and 120 in the second. Sonal has now become the third Sri Lankan batsman to score centuries in both innings.
