Rishabh Pant Retired Hurt: The Indian cricket team suffered a major setback on the first day of the ongoing second Test match against Sri Lanka. Star wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant had to leave the field, retiring hurt, after sustaining a wrist injury.

The incident occurred on the first ball of the 58th over of the Indian innings, with the team's score at 207 runs. Pant attempted a pull shot against a short-of-length delivery from Sri Lankan fast bowler Lahiru Kumara; however, instead of connecting cleanly with the bat, the ball struck his gloves directly. The delivery was fast enough to impact the bone in his wrist with considerable force.

Rishabh Pant appeared to be in significant pain immediately after being hit. The Indian team's physio rushed onto the field and applied an ice pack to Pant's wrist as a first-aid measure to prevent swelling. Although his wrist was taped, the pain did not subside, prompting Pant to decide to return to the pavilion.

Following Pant's departure from the field, all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja came out to bat. Pant had been looking in excellent touch, making his exit due to injury a significant blow for the Indian team. The medical team is currently monitoring his injury.
