After taking home the 2023 ICC Men's Cricketer of the Year Award, Australia skipper Pat Cummins showered the brilliant Indian team of Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja with admiration. Speaking to the ICC, Cummins praised Jadeja and Kohli as reliable players who can get their side out of a tight spot.
The esteemed ICC Award was won by Cummins over his colleagues Travis Head, Virat Kohli, and Ravindra Jadeja. With the significance of playing in India, Cummins named the World Cup final as Australia's most memorable victory while reflecting on their two ICC trophy victories in 2023.
It's a great honour. This year has been amazing, full of amazing team accomplishments. I'm a little shocked that I received this special honour on my own. It is way up there in terms of individual honours, according to ICC's quotation of Cummins.
'Kohli and Jadeja are super consistent, you can't keep them out of it, they find a way to drag their team out of trouble & win it, to be alongside those guys has been special' Pat Cummins stated at the ICC Awards.
Notably, Virat Kohli received the ICC Men's ODI Cricketer of the Year 2023 title last week in recognition of his amazing ODI return from the previous year, which featured a standout showing in the ODI World Cup. The former captain of India finished first in the competition with 765 runs at an average of 95.62 from 11 games. In addition, Kohli won the Player of the Tournament title for his incredible hitting display.
In the meanwhile, the ICC Men's Test Team of the Year 2023 was announced, featuring Ravindra Jadeja. Last year, with 281 runs at an average of 35.12 and 33 wickets taken at an average of 19.39, the 35-year-old was Team India's greatest all-around player.
In the opening Test of the five-match series, India lost to England by 28 runs, although Ravindra Jadeja was in the playing XI. Meanwhile, Kohli missed two Tests after going home for personal reasons. As a replacement for Kohli, Rajat Patidar, a batter for the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Madhya Pradesh, was brought into the team.
