ENG vs SL ODI Series: Major blow for Sri Lanka; Wanindu Hasaranga ruled out of entire England tour due to injury
Sri Lankan star all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been ruled out of the ongoing tour of England. He complained of severe lower-back pain (spasms) during a practice session ahead of the first ODI. Due to this injury, he will miss the remainder of the series and return home to Sri Lanka for rehabilitation.
Pain felt during practice
Hasaranga experienced discomfort during a training session just before the start of the ODI series against England. As a precaution, the team management had decided to rest him for the first ODI. However, given the severity of the injury, he has now been ruled out of the entire three-match ODI series.
History of injuries

This is not the first time Hasaranga has had to miss a crucial series or tournament due to injury. His injury history has been a cause for concern:
- 2023 ODI World Cup: He missed the ODI World Cup held in India due to a hamstring injury.
- 2026 T20 World Cup: He suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury during Sri Lanka's opening match against Ireland, ruling him out of the entire tournament.
Now, a lower-back injury has further delayed his return to action.
