Former Indian cricket player Irfan Pathan celebrated his eighth wedding anniversary to his wife Safa Baig on Saturday, February 3. Pathan showed his wife his appreciation and thanks by sharing a photo of them.
Pathan posted a heartfelt tribute to Safa on his official X account, calling her his devoted wife, friend, mood enhancer, comic, and mother of their children.
'Infinite roles mastered by one soul – mood booster, comedian, troublemaker, and the constant companion, friend, and mother of my children. In this beautiful journey, I cherish you as my wife. Happy 8th my love,' Pathan said.
Irfan has never made his wife's face publicly available on social media. In the past, Safa Baig was always depicted with him in veiled images on all of his social media postings.
After exchanging vows in 2016, Irfan Pathan and Safa were blessed with two boys, Imran and Suleiman.
A career highlight for the former all-rounder from India was winning the 2007 T20 World Cup. He had an amazing cricketing adventure. In the tournament, final encounter versus Pakistan, Pathan displayed a performance worthy of player-of-the-match accolades.
In a 2006 match against Pakistan, he became the first Indian bowler to ever take a hat-trick in Test cricket. To do so, he had to remove opener Salman Butt, Younis Khan, and Mohammad Yousuf. Pathan played 29 Tests, 120 ODIs, and 24 T20 matches for the Indian squad until missing his final international match in October 2012 during a T20I against South Africa.
After retiring from the game of cricket, Pathan took on a new career as a knowledgeable analyst and cricket commentator, where he provided insightful commentary on the sport. In addition, he has been spotted competing in T20 competitions like the Legends League Cricket, which also features his older brother Yusuf Pathan.
