To regain his lost form, Babar is set to return to Pakistan's prestigious domestic tournament, the 'Quaid-e-Azam Trophy,' after a seven-year hiatus. Babar, who last captained Punjab in the tournament's final in 2019, will take the field this time as the captain of the OGDCL team.

Farah Batool, Head of the Sports Department at OGDCL, has confirmed that Babar will return to Pakistan from England on September 16 and join the squad the very next day. Speaking to *Dawn*, he stated that the final decision regarding when Babar would play would rest with Babar himself. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) wants its international stars to play domestic cricket to help improve their performance. Under this policy, the PCB had proposed that Babar play for OGDCL as a 'guest player'—a proposal he has accepted.
