IPL Retention Deadline Extended: New Updates on Auction Date and Venue

The deadline for teams to submit their retention lists ahead of the IPL 2027 auction has been adjusted. Originally, the retention lists were due by November 15, but this deadline has now been extended by two days. According to a report by Cricbuzz, the new deadline for submitting the retention lists is November 17. Additionally, there are updates regarding the date and venue of the auction.

The IPL 2027 auction will be a 'mini-auction.' It is important to note that the 'Right to Match' (RTM) card cannot be used in a mini-auction. Furthermore, franchises are free to retain as many players as they wish, whereas in a 'mega-auction,' there is a fixed limit on the number of players that can be retained.

Update on IPL Auction Date and Venue

According to reports, there has been no change to the date or venue for the IPL 2027 auction. The auction will take place on December 16 at the ITC Grand Hotel in Goa.

With approximately 40 days left until the auction—and only about two weeks remaining before the deadline to submit retention lists—all 10 teams are currently busy finalizing their lists. Several big names could potentially be left off these retention lists, particularly players whose performance over the last few seasons has fallen short of expectations.

Team India to Play a Match on the Day of the Auction

The Indian team is scheduled to play a match on the very day of the IPL 2027 auction. India’s second ODI against Sri Lanka is set to take place on December 16. According to current reports, only the deadline for player retention has been adjusted; there have been no changes to the date or venue of the auction. The auction is expected to begin around 1:00 PM or 2:00 PM, though there has been no official confirmation regarding the timing yet.
