Mumbai Indians have roped in Mark Boucher as their head coach after Mahela Jayawardene, who held the role previously, was promoted to the role of Global Head of Performance. The Mumbai Indians management recently made a couple of changes to their coaching setup, as Zaheer Khan, who was the Director of Cricket Operations until the previous season, has been made the Global Head of Cricket Development.

Earlier, it was said that Boucher would join Mumbai Indians' Cape Town franchise at the inaugural SA20 league. After the franchise announced its coaching staff for the league and named Simon Katich and Hashim Amla in the leading coaching roles, Boucher’s inclusion in the IPL 2023 with the franchise had become clear.
Mumbai Indians made the official announcement on Friday, September 16, via Twitter on their official handle and welcomed Mark Boucher as their new head coach.
