The Hundred: August 14th was a day of mixed emotions for Kavya Maran, owner of the Sunrisers franchise, in 'The Hundred'. The rollercoaster nature of the matches on the cricket field brought her both joy and disappointment.

On that day, both the men's and women's Sunrisers Leeds teams took the field for their respective Eliminator matches. However, only the women's team managed to secure a spot in the final; the Sunrisers Leeds men's team lost their Eliminator match and bowed out of the title race.

Sunrisers Leeds Women Book Their Spot in the Final

Sunrisers Leeds Women defeated Southern Brave by 5 wickets in the Eliminator match played on August 14. Batting first, Southern Brave Women scored 114 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 100 balls; wicketkeeper-batter and opener Lizelle Lee was the top scorer with 32 runs. For Sunrisers Leeds, Annabel Sutherland and Hannah Baker claimed two wickets each, while Deepti Sharma took one wicket for 24 runs off 15 balls.

Deepti Sharma also played a crucial role in Sunrisers Leeds Women's run chase, ensuring the team secured victory. Sunrisers Leeds Women achieved the target of 115 runs with 11 balls to spare.

They scored 116 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 89 balls, with Deepti Sharma remaining unbeaten on 28. By winning this Eliminator, Sunrisers Leeds Women successfully advanced to the final.

Sunrisers Leeds Men's Team Eliminated

As for the Sunrisers Leeds men's team, their journey came to an end in the Eliminator. Batting first, Manchester Super Giants posted a total of 186 for 4 in 100 balls, driven by significant contributions from Paul Walter (80 runs) and Heinrich Klaasen (63 runs). Chasing a target of 187, Sunrisers Leeds could only manage 166 for 7 in their 100 balls, losing the Eliminator match by 20 runs.

Final on August 16

The finals for both the men's and women's editions of 'The Hundred' will be played at Lord's on August 16. In the women's final, Sunrisers Leeds will face the challenge of Trent Rockets, who are aiming to secure their maiden title.
