Hockey World Cup 2023: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Thursday announced a prize of Rs one crore to each player of the Indian Hockey Team for winning the FIH Men's Hockey World Cup. Patnaik (Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik), who was on a tour of Rourkela, also inaugurated the 'World Cup Village' in the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium premises.
The World Cup village has been built in a record nine months. It has 225 rooms with all the facilities as per the level of Hockey World Cup. Teams and officials of the upcoming Hockey World Cup will be in the World Cup Village.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister interacted with the national men's hockey team staying at the World Cup village.
Patnaik said, “If our country wins the World Cup, then each player of the Indian team will be given a reward of one crore rupees. I wish Team India all the best and hope they emerge as champions.
The players (Team India) praised the Odisha government and thanked the Chief Minister for developing a holistic ecosystem for hockey in Bhubaneswar.
Odisha Sports Minister TK Behera, Hockey India President Dilip Tirkey along with many other officials were present on the occasion.
