India has secured its second gold medal at the Asian Games 2026 after Kamaljeet Singh and Suruchi Singh delivered a record-breaking performance in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event. The Indian pair finished first in the final with 484.6 points, defeating South Korea to claim the gold medal.
The victory also saw the Indian duo set a new Asian record, adding another major achievement to India's campaign at the Games.
India Clinch Second Gold Medal at Asian Games 2026 in Shooting
Kamaljeet Singh and Suruchi Singh controlled the contest from the early stages of the final. Although South Korea continued to challenge the Indian pair, the Indian shooters maintained their composure and produced consistent scores.
India eventually finished 6.6 points ahead of South Korea, securing the gold medal.
South Korea scored 478.0 points to win silver, while Iran finished third with 415.8 points and took the bronze medal. Indonesia ended the final in fourth place with 349.4 points.
This is India's second gold medal at the 2026 Asian Games. The Indian women's cricket team had earlier won the country's first gold medal.
Kamaljeet Singh and Suruchi Singh Set New Asian Record
The Indian shooting duo achieved another milestone during the final by scoring 484.6 points, which became the new Asian record in the event.
The previous record was held by Uzbekistan, which had recorded 481.3 points in February 2026. Kamaljeet and Suruchi surpassed that mark with their impressive final performance.

India Beat South Korea by 6.6 Points to Secure Gold
South Korea remained India's closest challenger throughout the final. However, Kamaljeet and Suruchi managed to maintain their advantage and avoided major errors under pressure.
The Indian pair eventually completed the final with a 6.6-point advantage over South Korea, confirming their position at the top of the standings.
Kamaljeet-Suruchi Also Set Asian Record in Qualification
The Indian duo had already made a strong statement during the qualification round. Kamaljeet and Suruchi registered a score of 587-29x, finishing at the top and setting an Asian qualification record.

The top four teams advanced to the final. China and Vietnam could not finish among the top four and missed out on a place in the medal round.
How India Won Gold in the 10m Air Pistol Final
The final featured India, South Korea, Iran and Indonesia.
The competition started with three series of five shots each. India remained in first place after the opening 15 shots and continued to hold the advantage.
The elimination phase then began, with the lowest-ranked team being eliminated after every two shots.
Indonesia was eliminated after the 17th shot, guaranteeing India a medal. Iran was eliminated after the 19th shot, which confirmed at least a silver medal for India.
However, Kamaljeet and Suruchi continued to lead the competition. They did not allow South Korea to move ahead and remained in control until the final stages.
After the 21st shot, India surpassed the previous Asian record. The Indian pair finished with 484.6 points, securing the gold medal and setting a new Asian record.
Asian Games 2026: India Medal Tally Reaches 18
With Kamaljeet Singh and Suruchi Singh winning gold, India's medal tally has reached 19 at the 2026 Asian Games.
The record-breaking performance in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event has added another gold medal to India's campaign and further highlighted the country's strong showing in shooting.
