Pakistan’s young batter Muhammad Shahzad has made headlines in domestic cricket with a sensational batting performance. The 22-year-old smashed a century in just 49 balls during the President’s Trophy Grade-1, breaking a long-standing record associated with former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq.
Representing Pakistan Television (PTV) against Hyderabad Kingsmen Academy at the Diamond Club Ground in Islamabad, Shahzad produced an attacking innings after his team was reduced to 34/3.

Muhammad Shahzad reached his century in just 49 deliveries, setting a new benchmark for the fastest first-class century by a Pakistani batter.
Before Shahzad’s stunning effort, the notable mark was associated with Misbah-ul-Haq. The former Pakistan captain scored a 56-ball century against Australia in the 2014 Abu Dhabi Test.
Misbah’s innings was particularly memorable as he equalled the then-record for the fastest century in Test cricket. New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum later surpassed that mark with a 54-ball century against Australia in 2016.
Shahzad has now completed his century seven balls faster than Misbah’s 56-ball effort, creating a new record in Pakistan’s first-class cricket.

The situation looked difficult for Pakistan Television when three wickets fell with just 34 runs on the scoreboard.
Shahzad, batting at No. 5, changed the momentum almost immediately. Rather than adopting a defensive approach, he targeted the opposition bowling and kept the scoreboard moving with boundaries.
His innings demonstrated his ability to score quickly while also handling pressure in a first-class match.

Muhammad Shahzad has already represented Pakistan at the junior level. The 22-year-old has been part of Pakistan’s U16 and U19 teams.
He also featured in the U19 World Cup in South Africa, where he played two matches and scored 27 runs.
Since then, Shahzad has continued to develop through Pakistan’s domestic cricket structure and has also gained experience in the Pakistan Super League.
Muhammad Shahzad’s PSL Journey With Islamabad United and Multan Sultans
The young batter has been associated with Multan Sultans and Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League.
Shahzad made his PSL debut for Islamabad United in 2025. He played four innings during the season and scored 24 runs, with 24 being his highest score.
He later showed promising form in the National T20 Cup, scoring consecutive half-centuries for the Multan Region.
