ICC recommends six-team competition for 2028 Olympics

ICC proposes six-team T20 contests The ICC hopes to have cricket included in the 2028 Olympics. A decision on the inclusion of cricket will be taken by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in October. After this it will be ratified in the IOC session in Mumbai.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is still hopeful of cricket being included in the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics and has recommended a six-team T20 event for men and women to the Games' organizing committee.

As per reports, a decision on the inclusion of cricket will be taken by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) in October. This will then be ratified at the IOC session in Mumbai, which is expected to be held around October this year.

In a strategic move, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah has been included in the ICC's Olympic Working Group which is chaired by ICC President Greg Barclay and includes Indira Nooyi (Independent Director) and Parag Marathe (Former President of the American Cricket Association).

Shah was inducted keeping in mind India's ambition of hosting the Olympics in 2036. Along with cricket, eight other sports, baseball/softball, flag football, lacrosse, break dancing, karate, kick boxing, squash and motorsport are also competing for inclusion in the programme.
