ICC Men and Women Player of the Month awards

ICC Player of the Month Award: The ICC has announced the Player of the Month for July. English player Gas Atkinson won the Player of the Month award, while England opener Chamari Atapattu hit the target of 100 runs with both bat and ball in the Women's Asia Cup T20 2024 and was named Player of the Month.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced the winners of the ICC Men's and Women's Player of the Month on 12 August. The Men's Player of the Month award for the month of July was given to England's Gus Atkinson.

For the Men's Player of the Month award, the ICC had nominated Washington Sundar, Charlie Castle and Gus Atkinson, out of which the English player won the award. At the same time, the Women's Player of the Month award went to Sri Lanka's captain Chamari Atapattu.

England bowler Gus Atkinson performed brilliantly in the Test series played against West Indies. This was his debut Test series, in which he won the ICC Men's Player of the Month award along with his amazing performance.

English player Gus took a total of 22 wickets in the Test series played between England and West Indies. During this, his average was 16.22 and he was also given the Player of the Series award. 26-year-old Atkinson made his Test debut against the West Indies cricket team in July. He took a total of 12 wickets in his first match. Atkinson became the 8th bowler to take a 10-wicket haul while making a Test debut for England.

ICC Women's Player of the Month Award

Sri Lankan captain Chamari Atapattu won the ICC Women's Player of the Month award. Under Chamari's captaincy, the Sri Lankan team defeated the Indian women's team in the final and won the Women's Asia Cup title for the first time.

In the entire tournament, Chamari scored 304 runs at an average of 101. She played an unbeaten innings of 119 runs against Malaysia in the month of July. At the same time, she scored 61 runs in the final and made an important contribution in giving Sri Lanka a historic victory. Atapattu got this award due to this excellent performance. She won this award leaving behind India's Shafali Verma and Smriti Mandhana
