when local organizers disregarding rules and propriety allocated the same room to gymnastics coach Ashok Mishra and India's star female gymnast, Pranati Nayak. However, as the situation threatened to escalate, officials from the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) intervened at midnight and resolved the matter.
Major Uproar Amidst Asian Games
Indian star gymnast Pranati Nayak and gymnastics coach Ashok Mishra arrived in Nagoya at midnight after an exhausting flight lasting over 30 hours. However, they were left stunned when they learned of the bizarre accommodation arrangement.
They immediately protested the decision and insisted on having separate rooms. The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) subsequently resolved the matter late at night, and both were shifted to separate rooms.
Coach Left Waiting Outside Late at Night
Alongside this incident, another controversy unfolded. When Coach Ashok Mishra arrived at the cruise ship's entrance, his name was found on the slip at the gate, and he was allowed inside.
However, the real drama began at the reception. When staff checked the register, they claimed his name was not on the list and that he was not registered. The exhausted coach was forced to wait outside for about 45 minutes, between 1:00 AM and 2:00 AM.
A subsequent check revealed that the letter 'I' was missing from the spelling of 'MISHRA' in the register; the name had been recorded as 'MSHRA' due to an error, making it impossible to locate the entry in the system. Following this, IOA officials consulted the local organizing committee in Nagoya and resolved the issue between 1:30 PM and 2:00 PM.
Under the accommodation arrangements, gymnast Pranati Nayak was allotted a separate room, while gymnastics coach Ashok Mishra was permitted to share a room with weightlifting head coach Vijay Sharma.
