Ibrahim Zadran Joins India's Trophy Celebrations: The Indian cricket team secured a comprehensive victory in the final T20 match against Afghanistan in Delhi, completing a 3-0 clean sweep of the three-match series.

After completely dominating Afghanistan on the field with both bat and ball, Indian captain Shreyas Iyer did something during the post-match presentation ceremony that won the hearts of millions of sports fans.

Iyer demonstrated that the true objective of the Friendship Cup was not merely to win matches, but to foster mutual respect and sportsmanship.

True sportsmanship was on display after the match

During the post-match presentation ceremony, when Team India was handed the trophy, Iyer invited Afghan captain Ibrahim Zadran to join them and share the trophy. The Afghanistan captain then stood amidst the Indian players and posed with the trophy.

Setting aside on-field rivalries, this moment became a shining example of camaraderie. Despite having dominated the opposing team throughout the series, including the rival captain in their celebrations in this manner became one of the most beautiful moments in international cricket.

India's legendary former captain Sunil Gavaskar, present in the commentary box, wholeheartedly praised this gesture by Iyer. Gavaskar remarked on-air that including the opposing team's captain in the team photograph was truly wonderful, and that such a 'champion photo' embodies the true spirit of the game.

Ajinkya Rahane did the same in 2018

This heartwarming gesture by Shreyas Iyer revived fond memories of the historic Bengaluru Test played in June 2018. It was in 2018 that the Afghanistan team made its historic Test debut against India at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.

India won that match within just two days by a massive margin of an innings and 262 runs. After the match concluded, Indian captain Ajinkya Rahane invited Afghanistan captain Asghar Afghan and his entire team to share the trophy with the Indian squad and join them in the victory photograph.

In much the same spirit, nearly eight years later, Shreyas Iyer upheld this noble tradition by sharing a special moment with Ibrahim Zadran.
