BBL 2022-23: Biggest Run Chase in Big Bash League history

The Adelaide Strikers created history in the 12th season of the Big Bash League (BBL) at the Adelaide Oval on Thursday. Strikers broke the record for the highest run chase in the history of Big Bash League (Big Bash League 2022-23). Adelaide Strikers achieved the target of 230 runs with three balls to spare. Earlier in BBL, the target of 223 runs was chased. In the match played on Thursday, the Strikers defeated the Hobart Hurricanes by 7 wickets.

It may be noted that the Hurricanes, who came out to bat first, scored 229 for 4 in 20 overs thanks to half-centuries from Ben McDermott (57 off 30 balls), Caleb Jewell (54 off 25 balls) and Jack Crowley (54 not out off 28 balls). Make it Tim David also scored an unbeaten 39 in 20 balls with the help of 3 sixes and 2 fours. Colin de Grandhomme got two wickets, while Harry Conway and Matthew Short got one each.

Captain of strikers played century innings: Chasing a target of 230, the Strikers chased down 230 with three balls to spare thanks to skipper Matthew Short (100 not out off 59 balls). Apart from Short for the Strikers, Chris Lynn (64 off 29 balls) and Adam Hodge (38 off 22 balls) also contributed. There was a 124-run partnership between Short and Lynn for the second wicket. Short also shared a 73-run partnership with Hose.
