Australia are set to return to South Africa for a Test series for the first time since 2018.
Only five players from the current squad were part of Australia's previous Test tour of the country. Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood, Steve Smith, Mitchell Starc and Matthew Renshaw are the five players who featured in the 2018 series.

The three-match AUS vs SA Test series will be played across three venues in South Africa.
- 1st Test: October 9 – Durban
- 2nd Test: October 18 – Gqeberha
- 3rd Test: October 27 – Johannesburg
Before the Test series begins, Australia and South Africa will also face each other in a three-match ODI series.
The ODI matches are scheduled for September 24, September 27 and September 30.

The upcoming Test series will be particularly important in the World Test Championship (WTC) standings.
Australia currently occupy the top position with a points percentage (PCT) of 80, while South Africa are second with 75 PCT.
