Usman Khawaja opened the innings with Travis Head (32) and fought the Indian bowlers hard. Khawaja took his time to settle at the crease and didn't play a bad shot. Wickets were falling at one end, but Khawaja did not take the pressure and stood at one end to put Australia in a strong position.

Usman Khawaja, 36, remained unbeaten at stumps after scoring 104 runs in 251 balls with the help of 15 fours. Green returned with him unbeaten, scoring an unbeaten 49 off 64 balls with eight fours.
