Afghanistan batsman Ihsanullah has been banned for five years.

Afghanistan's young batsman Ehsanullah Janat has been banned for five years. The Afghanistan Cricket Board has banned Janat from participating in all cricket activities with immediate effect. Ehsanullah Janat was accused of match fixing during the second edition of the T20 League. The ACB said that after Janat was found guilty, three other players were also investigated for match fixing.

The Afghanistan player has accepted the charges of violating the ACB and ICC Anti-Corruption Code.

26-year-old Ehsanullah Janat made his debut in 2017. He has represented France in three T20Is, 16 ODIs and one T20I. Janat was considered a symbolic cricketer, where he was also said to have made his debut at a young age. This made his journey difficult.

Afghanistan Cricket Board issued a statement

Ihsanullah Janat was found guilty of violating Article 2.1.1 of the ICC Anti-Corruption Code, which includes attempting to influence or fix the result, progress or any aspect of a match. Due to the violation, Janat has been banned from all cricket-related activities for five years. Janat accepted the charges and admitted his involvement in corrupt activities.

Investigation started on other players

This is a big setback not only for Janat but also for Afghanistan cricket. The ACB has played an important role in promoting the KPL, but after this case its credibility has come under doubt. However, the ACB said that after Ehsanullah Janat was found guilty, the board has started an investigation of match fixing against three other players. The statement said, "The ACB's Anti-Corruption Unit has revealed that three other members are also accused of match fixing and the investigation has started. Any further decision will be taken only if these allegations are proved.
