However, due to political interference and internal issues within the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, the International Cricket Council (ICC) took the major decision to withdraw the hosting rights from Sri Lanka and relocate the event to India. India is now fully prepared to host this historic tournament.

The tournament is scheduled to take place next year, running from February 14, 2027, to February 28, 2027. The ICC has selected two major Indian venues to host the matches:
- Mumbai
- Vadodara
Despite losing the hosting rights, the Sri Lankan team will still participate in the tournament as a competing team.
