Will Virat Kohli Return to Test Cricket?: India's star batter and former captain Virat Kohli has completely put to rest all speculation regarding a reversal of his decision to retire from Test cricket. It is worth noting that Kohli had announced his retirement from the longest format of the game (Test cricket) just before the England series in 2025 and amidst the IPL 2025 season.
Recently, on June 21 (Sunday), during a 'one8' event in New Delhi, when asked if he would consider a return to Test cricket, the 37-year-old made it clear that he has completely stepped away from the format. Virat stated bluntly:

Virat Kohli Makes a Comeback in ODI Squad for England Tour
While Virat has closed the door on a Test comeback, the BCCI announced the Indian squad on June 21 for the ODI series scheduled during the England tour in July 2026. The 'Chase Master,' Virat Kohli, has been included in the squad great news for fans of limited-overs cricket.

However, Virat Kohli's participation in the England series will depend entirely on his match fitness. Due to a hamstring injury sustained during IPL 2026, Kohli had missed the three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, which concluded on June 20.
After wrapping up the event in Delhi, Virat Kohli will head to the BCCI's 'Centre of Excellence' (CoE) in Bengaluru on Monday, June 22. There, he will undergo a fitness test to prove his availability for the matches.
