The franchise career of 34-year-old Mohammad Amir has reached a significant turning point. Obtaining a UK passport has altered the way he registers for T20 leagues around the world:

  • English Domestic Cricket: Amir has signed as a local player with the 'Notts Outlaws' for the T20 Blast and the 'Trent Rockets' for 'The Hundred'. He is no longer counted under the overseas player quota in England's domestic tournaments.
  • New Role in PSL: From the 2027 season onwards, Amir will play in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) under the 'overseas player' category rather than as a Pakistani (domestic) player.
  • Doors Open for IPL: Pakistani players are currently barred from the IPL due to political tensions between India and Pakistan. However, having become a British citizen, Amir can now participate in the IPL auction as a British overseas player.
