South African fast bowler Lizaad Williams has joined the Delhi Capitals (DC) squad as a replacement for Harry Brook, who has opted out of the IPL due to personal reasons. England superstar Brook was bought by DC for Rs 4 crore, but the power-packed batsman has been out of the league due to the demise of his grandmother. With DC's bowling struggling to perform consistently, buying Williams could prove to be a smart move for the franchise.
Capitals has bought Lizard for his base price of Rs 50 lakh. The Proteas fast bowler made his international debut in 2021 and has since represented his country in 2 Tests, 4 ODIs and 11 T20Is.
Lizaad Williams is an excellent bowler and can prove to be an X-factor for the Capitals, who are in dire need of a wicket-taker. Anrich Nortje has been clean bowled in every match and Williams can debut for DC in the next match only.
Talking about DC's performance so far, their performance in the current IPL has been below average. The team has lost 4 matches and won only one, which came against Chennai Super Kings. In their last match, DC bowlers conceded 234 runs against Mumbai Indians and faltered while chasing the target, leaving them at the bottom of the points table.
