Who is Issy Wong

Issy Wong, a right-arm fast bowler, plays international cricket for England. Wong, 20, is also the youngest overseas player to play in the Women's Premier League 2023. Wong was born in Chelsea, England. His mother is a freelance writer for cricket. And the father is of Hong Kong origin.

Two of Wong's great uncles have played international cricket for the Hong Kong men's team. One of them, Donald Anderson, was a lieutenant in the Hong Kong Defense Force. He was shot by a Japanese sniper during the Battle of Hong Kong in 1941.

Isi Wong's great-grandmother Phyllis Nolasco da Silva recruited and ran a World War II network of spies in southern China for British Military Intelligence. After the war he was awarded the King's Medal for Service in the Cause of Freedom, the United Kingdom's highest civilian wartime award.
