5. Travis Head (Australia)

Australia were ready to go into the tournament one player down, and with just one specialist spinner, as they waited for their opening batter's fractured hand to heal. That's how highly their brain trust assessed the potential influence of Travis Head on the 2023 World Cup in India.

Head was late to the game but quickly made up for it, scoring an incredible hundred runs off only 59 balls against the Kiwis and then winning player of the match against South Africa in the semi-final.

Even though he perished at the last, his 137 from 120 balls represented 56.85% of Australia's runs and solidified his place among the World Cup final hundreds of greats who had come before him.

4. Virat Kohli (India)

In One-Day Internationals, Virat Kohli matched Sachin Tendulkar's record for the most hundreds. At Eden Gardens, he scored his 49th century in an ODI against South Africa.

India has given South Africa a challenging 327-run goal to meet. The cricketing world commemorated a unique occasion when birthday boy Virat Kohli struck a record-tying ton during the Indian innings. He is now on a level with Sachin Tendulkar after his 49th ODI century.

The crowd erupted in applause as Kohli inscribed his name in the annals of cricket history.

Saying that Virat Kohli seems set to smash most batting records in One-Day international cricket for some time now wouldn't be an exaggeration. He has been the owner of that format. However, there was a hiccup recently when some questioned if the 50th ODI ton was a step too far.

However, Kohli has continued to climb to the top once the drought ended. In front of Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday in Mumbai, Kohli ascended the mountain of tons and became the first player in the history of the game to reach fifty-five runs in one-day international cricket.

Coincidentally, on November 15, 2013, at the identical time and location as Tendulkar's final international innings, Kohli achieved his 50th ODI century.

2. Fakhar Zaman (Pakistan)

In Match 35 of the ODI World Cup 2023 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, Pakistani batsman Fakhar Zaman stunned the cricketing world with his incredible batting display against New Zealand.

Zaman reached his century in just 63 balls as Pakistan sought to surpass the formidable 402 runs that the Blackcaps had set. With a subtle touch, the southpaw skillfully steered the flatter delivery to the offside on the second delivery of the 19th over, collecting a single that sent him into three-figure scoring.

Zaman made history as he became the first Pakistani cricket player to reach a century in the ODI World Cup's storied history. This elevated him to a new level of distinction and established a new standard in the cricketing world.

On November 16, during the South Africa vs. Australia match in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final 2 at Kolkata's Eden Gardens, David Miller made history. In the World Cup elimination round, he became the first batter from the Proteas to reach a century. In the pivotal match, his knock enabled SA to record a fighting total.

In the 50-over format, Miller broke his five-year century drought by smashing a solid hundred to help South Africa reach a reasonable total against the five-time world champions in Kolkata. When Pat Cummins and company cut the Proteas to 24-4 in the penultimate match of the ICC World Cup at Eden Gardens, Miller stepped into bat. Miller, who was under tremendous strain from the formidable Australian team, restored life to the South African innings with an outstanding 101 runs.
