T20 World Cup 2024 has started and in its 5th match, Afghanistan's fast bowler Fazalhaq Farooqi made a record by bowling lethally against Uganda. Farooqi not only destroyed the Ugandan batting order but also got his name recorded in the pages of history. Farooqi took 5 wickets for 9 runs in his 4 overs, due to which the Ugandan team collapsed for 58 runs while chasing the target of 184 runs at the Providence Stadium in Guyana.
Afghanistan had scored 183 runs thanks to the 154-run opening partnership of Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran. Farooqi wreaked havoc in the very first over and took 2 wickets on consecutive balls. This disturbed the rhythm of Uganda's innings. Uganda lost wickets at regular intervals. Naveen-ul-Haq took 2 wickets and Mujeeb-ur-Rahman took 1 wicket. Farooqui then came back and took 3 wickets in his third over.

Sri Lanka's former legendary spinner Rangana Herath also wreaked havoc with his deadly bowling in the T20 World Cup. Rangana Herath took 5 wickets for just 3 runs in 3.3 overs in the 2014 World Cup. During this, he bowled two maiden overs. Rangana Herath's economy rate during this period was 0.85.
Former Sri Lankan mystery spinner Ajantha Mendis holds the record for the best bowling figures in the T20 World Cup. Mendis is in first place in this matter. Mendis took 6 wickets for just 8 runs in four overs against Zimbabwe in the 2012 T20 World Cup.
